1. Overview

HoldYourBeer ("the Service") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the Service (including the website holdyourbeers.com and the mobile application). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you register, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google, we also receive your basic public Google account information (name and email).

Tasting Records

Tasting data you voluntarily enter, including: beer brand and name, tasting count, tasting date and time, purchase location, and tasting notes.

Photos

Photos you choose to upload, stored on Cloudflare R2 (cloud object storage). Photos are for your personal use only and are not visible to other users.

Usage Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics and Google Analytics to collect anonymized usage data (such as page views and feature usage frequency) to help us improve the Service. This data cannot be used to identify individuals.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the core features of the Service (beer tracking, statistics, etc.)
  • To verify your identity and maintain account security
  • To send service-related system notifications (e.g., account deletion confirmation)
  • To improve user experience through anonymized analytics
  • To detect and prevent fraud or abuse

We do not sell, rent, or otherwise provide your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. AI Photo Recognition

The Service offers an optional "AI Auto-Detect Brand & Name" feature. When you choose to use this feature, your photo is securely transmitted to the Google Gemini API for image analysis. The result is returned immediately and Google does not permanently store your photo for this purpose. This feature is optional — you may skip it and enter information manually.

6. Data Retention

While your account is active: We retain all your data to provide the full features of the Service.

After account deletion: Personal identifiers (email, name) are permanently anonymized after a 7-day grace period. All tasting records, including photos, are permanently and irrecoverably deleted at the same time.

7. Account Deletion and Data Removal

You may request account deletion at any time from the "Account & Security" section in the app or from this website.

What happens when you request deletion:

  1. A 7-day grace period begins. You may cancel the request at any time during this period.
  2. After the grace period, the following are automatically and permanently removed:
    • Your email address and name (anonymized)
    • All tasting log records
    • All beer count records
    • All uploaded photos from cloud storage
    • All active login tokens

⚠️ Deletion is permanent and irreversible. Please back up any data you wish to keep before submitting a deletion request.

8. Cookies

This website uses necessary cookies (for login sessions and CSRF protection) and optional analytics cookies (Google Analytics, with your consent). You can manage your cookie preferences using the Cookie Settings banner at the bottom of the site.

9. Your Rights

  • Access and correction: You can view and update your information on the Profile page.
  • Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and all associated data (see Section 7).
  • Withdraw consent: You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time.
